FOOD DONATION CHALLENGE
WHO WON?????
Nearly 3,000 items donated
Love, Inc./Ottawa County Food Bank, and the less fortunate won the Bennington Junior High versus Minneapolis Junior High Food Challenge that was launched on November 12, 2007, during the teams’ basketball contest.
Students, staffs and especially Principals of the two schools encouraged all school and community people to donate food to their schools so that they might win the challenge. Winning school would have bragging rights and a photograph of the losing school’s principal, dressed in the winning school’s colors, to hang in their school for the remainder of the year. Winning school’s students also get to watch the losing school’s representatives help serve and clean up after lunch.
Bennington Food Donations were taken to LOVE, Inc. November 21 for distribution. STUCO officers counted, loaded and unloaded a mountain of contributions: Zach Fief, Addy McCall, Lauren Montgomery, Sarah Stratman, and Katey Whitesell. Cody Lampe also assisted as the representative of Rachel’s Challenge Group. Rachel’s Challenge Group of BRAG attended a conference, and upon hearing of this idea, asked that Bennington Junior High initiate the “challenge.”
Bennington Schools thanks and appreciates all the assistance and donations from everyone. Special thanks to Dillons Super Store, Sutherlands, Walmart and K-Mart for their donations. Bennington State Bank, City of Bennington Offices and Twin Valley Schools USD 240 District Office also allowed patrons to drop their food donations at their locations. Many thanks!
Bennington STUCO and BRAG groups are sponsored by Jim Gish and Rosemary Neaderhiser.
