Rounding Up Readers at Bennington Grade School
by Craig Gantenbein
March 24, 2008
The Bennington Grade School Library celebrated Read Across
America from March 3rd - 6th. Our theme this year was
"Rounding up Readers". Students enjoyed many cowboy stories
and activities in the library throughout the week. Mr.
Pickrell gave roping demonstrations and students got to practice.
On Thursday, the 6th graders performed a western skit
teaching about wesern life and students enjoyed trail mix.
Classrooms also participated in a door decorating contest to
promote reading. The winners this year were Mrs. Shamburg and
Mrs. Swearingen's classes. Mrs. Callahan's class was second
and Mrs. Aksamit's class placed third. Take a look at the
slide show to see pictures of activities throughout the wee.
