Mrs. Ouderkirk's

Walk For Kansas!

by Tammy Jilka

April 25, 2008

Could you walk across the whole state?
Well that is what most of our 1st thru 6th graders from Bennington and Tescott Schools did this last nine weeks. Walk across Kansas for Kids was a nine-week program that promotes fun, physical activity and great food choices for 1st thru 6th grade. Students who participate had to log or record their amount of time they spent doing physical activity each day. The class with the most points received shirts as well as metals for their outstanding devotion to physical fitness. Barbara Webb, Bennington Head Cook, felt that the Walk Kansas for Kids program was a fun and flexible way to get our students and families moving toward health and fitness in our communities. We appreciate all the hard work and dedication she put forth to help make this program possible. The winning class for Bennington Schools was a combined effort of the 2nd grand classes (Mrs. Callahan and Mrs. Trout).
