UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 240

 

            The Hearing on Amending the 2007-2008 Budget was held on June 9, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Unified District Office.  Those present were Board of Education members Phil Aumick, Bernie Regnier, Don Weiland, Rick Bremerman, and Matt Ehrhart; Administrators Richard D. Harlan, Bill Edwards, Craig Gantenbein and David Zlab; Clerk Cindy Regnier. 

           

            President Bernie Regnier called the hearing to order at 7:00 p.m.

 

            It was moved by Don Weiland and seconded by Rick Bremerman to amend the 2007-08 General Fund budget to the Published State audited figures.  The motion was carried 5-0.

 

            Matt Ehrhart moved that the budget hearing be adjourned.  Don Weiland seconded the motion and it carried. 5-0.

 

            President Bernie Regnier adjourned the meeting.

UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 240

 

            Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Education held on June 9, 2008 at the Unified District Office.  Those present were Board Members Bernie Regnier, Phil Aumick, Don Weiland, Rick Bremerman and Matt Ehrhart; Administrators Richard D. Harlan, Bill Edwards, Craig Gantenbein and Dave Zlab; Clerk Cindy Regnier. 

           

            President Bernie Regnier called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

 

            The agenda for the meeting was adopted with one addition.  Motion by Matt Ehrhart, seconded by Don Weiland.  Carried with 5-0 vote.

 

            The consent agenda (May 19, 2008 minutes and checks 42587 through 42722 in the amount of $456,799.57) for the meeting was adopted with no changes or additions.  Motion by Phil Aumick, seconded by Matt Ehrhart.  Carried with 5-0 vote.

 

            Motion by Don Weiland to enter into a contract with the Kansas State Department of Education for the School Nutrition Program. Seconded by Rick Bremerman.  Carried with 5-0 vote.

 

            Motion by Matt Ehrhart to allow Superintendent Harlan and the auditor authority to expend and transfer funds remaining 2007-2008 budget funds. Seconded by Rick Bremerman. Carried with 5-0 vote.

 

Motion by Matt Ehrhart to accept the 2008-09 handbooks for Tescott Grade School, Tescott High School, Bennington Grade School and Bennington High School as presented.  Seconded by Don Weiland.  Carried with 5 – 0 vote.

 

            Motion by Rick Bremerman to accept the bid of Precision Electric for new lighting in the Tescott Schools.  Seconded by Matt Ehrhart.  Carried 5-0.

           

            Motion by Matt Ehrhart to continue authorization for attendance during the 2008-09 school year to out-of-district students previously approved by the board with the exception of four students whose prior approval will be revoked.  Seconded by Rick Bremerman.  Carried 5-0.

 

            Motion by Don Weiland to authorize the attendance of four out of district students at Bennington Schools during the 2008-09 school year and to deny attendance to one student.  Seconded by Phil Aumick.  Carried 5-0.

 

            Motion by Rick Bremerman that the board go into executive session for 15 minutes to discuss personnel.  Seconded by Matt Ehrhart.  Carried 5-0.  The board went into executive session at 8:10 p.m.

 

            The Board reconvened at 8:25 p.m.

 

            Motion by Rick Bremerman to hire Johanna Swenson as USD 240 Spanish instructor, Bill Luthi as Bennington Industrial Arts Instructor and Cathryn Wenthe as Tescott High School Assistant Volleyball Coach. Seconded by Matt Ehrhart. Carried 5-0.

 

            President Bernie Regnier adjourned the meeting.
