Board Minutes October 2009

UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 240

 

Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Education held on October 19, 2009 at the USD Office.  Those present were Board Members Kelli Webb, Mark Whitesell, Rick Bremerman, and Bernie Regnier; Administrators Richard D. Harlan, Craig Gantenbein, Becky Cheney, Brent Mumford and Bill Edwards; Clerk Cindy Regnier, and 5 guests. 

           

President Mark Whitesell called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

 

The agenda for the meeting was adopted. Motion by Bernie Regnier, seconded by Rick Bremerman.  Carried with 4-0 vote.

 

Phil Aumick arrived at 7:05p.m.

 

The consent agenda (September 21, 2009 board meeting minutes and checks 44930 through 45082 in the amount of $363,825.28) for the meeting was approved.  Motion by Kelli Webb, seconded by Rick Bremerman.  Carried with 5-0 vote.

 

Jeff Mick and 3 Tescott High School students gave a presentation on the program recently implemented at TJH and THS on Character Building for athletes.

 

Motion by Rick Bremerman that Mark Whitesell be appointed as the KASB delegate at the convention to be held December 4-6, 2009 in Overland Park.  Seconded by Bernie Regnier.  Carried 5-0.

 

Motion by Phil Aumick to authorize the attendance of 2 out-of-district students and deny attendance to one student at Bennington Schools.  Seconded by Rick Bremerman.  Carried 5-0.

 

Motion by Rick Bremerman that the board go into executive session for 10 minutes to discuss personnel.  Seconded by Phil Aumick.  Carried 5-0.  The board went into executive session at 9:35 p.m.

 

The Board reconvened at 9:45 p.m. 

 

Motion by Bernie Regnier to hire Terry Radke as Bennington Evening Custodian. Seconded by Kelli Webb.  Carried 5-0.

 

Motion by Phil Aumick to forgive the 13 days of sick leave used by Cary Wilson in excess of her allotment and to examine the situation on a month-to-month basis while her medical treatment is ongoing.  Seconded by Bernie Regnier.  Carried 5-0.

 

President Mark Whitesell adjourned the meeting.
