Some people search their entire life for the perfect career and never find what makes them happy. I have been lucky, for the past 20 years I have been doing exactly what I have dreamed about, working with the development of children ranging in ages from birth to five years and I could not be happier.  In 2003 I was presented a wonderful opportunity, to work with a school district and a community in which I was born and raised, as the Coordinator of the Parent Education Program. This opportunity has given me a sense of pride and self worth, knowing that I am helping and educating a community that did just that for me.  In 2014 I also started teaching half-day preschool in Tescott.  This has been an amazing journey and has introduced me to many great parents and students in this community.

I graduated from Bennington High School in and received an associate’s degree in Early Childhood from Hutchison Community College.  My husband and I along with our children Brauer and Talyn, who attend Bennington Schools, reside outside of Bennington.

I believe that early childhood education is vitally important to the success of our children both in school and life.  I believe that investing in children's emotional and social development also leads to a child's ability to be successful in school. I am excited to be part of the USD240 team of educators. I am looking forward to seeing how much the children grow and learn throughout this year.

I graduated from Kansas State University in 1995 with a degree in psychology. After working in the district as a substitute teacher, I decided to go back to school and obtain a degree in elementary education. This is my third year teaching at Twin Valley. My husband, Chris, and I have three children. Olivia will be in 8th grade and Ava and Eli will be in 6th grade. I love being part of the Twin Valley team of educators.

What students will learn in Preschool

Our preschool curriculum, Big Day, is organized around “Big Experiences” that integrate social-emotional, academic, and physical development. Our curriculum engages children in playful, intentional learning. We provide daily opportunities for meaningful conversation that will help accelerate oral language development and build vocabulary.

Strategies for success

Preschool plays a critical role in helping our children build a long-term foundation for success in school and in life. The goal of preschool is to prepare young children for success in school. Research has indentiified the key benchmarks that are accurate predictors of future achievement. Continuously monitoring each child’s progress against these benchmarks is critical.
