Get to know your teacher

My original focus and pursuit to be an educator, I really thought I wanted to teach Elementary Education. When I started my student teaching through Kansas Wesleyan, I found myself focusing more on identified Sp.Ed. students. In my career in education grows I find myself yearning for more knowledge. However, my own learning disability negatively impacts my rate of learning. I find my ADHD makes me more relatable to my students, so I can make a positive impact.

I have been a teacher at Tescott for 18 years and love working with the students.  My goal with each of my students is to assist them in putting a voice to their disability and recognizing and maximizing their strengths as valuable students. I attempt to recognize each student’s potential and keep them focused on making positive changes that will move them toward becoming productive adults.

On a personal note,  I live in Tescott and have 7 children that have attended Tescott Schools.

Student/Parent Resources

We provide support services, Class within a class. This involves use of paraprofessional in the general education classroom. While we provide this support, worst case scenario we also provide pull out services; where the student will learn the same material at a different pace. We do this to meet the needs of all our students, so they are in the least restrictive environment. This is meant to deter the negative stigma that is associated with Special Education.
