I graduated from Bennington High School in 1986. Attended Butler County and FHSU. I have a BS in Physical Education and FACS. Have a MS in Sports Administration & Exercise Science. Also have a MS in Counseling. |
What students will learn in their FACS classes |
Course Title: Foods Duration: 1 Semester Grade: 9-12 Credit: .5 Course Objective: Focus on basic food preparation techniques, tools and utensils. Students will learn a variety of food preparation techniques. They will learn basic nutrition principles. These principles are reinforced when studying about specific food groups and the nutrient content of each. Students learn to work individually and as a team to make decisions about food purchasing and food preparation when planning meals for themselves.
Course Title: Advanced Foods Duration: 1 Semester Grade: 9-12 Credit: .5 Course Objective: Students will learn advanced techniques in preparing foods. Students will prepare regional foreign foods. They will have units on pastries, chocolate, frozen desserts appetizers, cooking meats, creative cooking and outdoor cooking will be covered.
