The Barton County Community College sports medicine department is looking for students who are interested in joining their student athletic trainers' staff while continuing their education in college.

The Sports Medicine Department directs the health care delivery system used for all Cougar student-athletes.  Each student athletic trainer is given the opportunity to participate in all activities directed out of the Cougar Training Room.  Students will work in a specific sport helping in practice sessions, covering home events, and accompanying the team on the road.

Eighteen to twenty students, including returning sophomores, are selected to join the athletic training staff each fall semester.  Each student receives a books and tuition performance award to help meet college expenses.  A minimum of 12 semester hours, and an overall GPA of 2.9, must be maintained to renew both the student-athletic trainer position and the performance award each semester.

Each student athletic trainer is provided the opportunity to complete a two-year curriculum designed to prepare him/her for almost any college/university academic program.  Special courses of study are offered for the student interested in pursuing a career in athletic training or some other avenue of sports medicine.

Contact Mrs. Martin if you are interested in applying to this program.
