Greater Salina Community Foundation Scholarships

Mary Olson and Viola Olson Gustafson Scholarship


For students currently attending or planning to attend Cloud County Community College working toward a degree in nursing or another medical field.



*$500 shall be of a scholarship for the 2006-07 academic year.

*Applicant must be currently attending or planning to attend Cloud County Community College, Concordia, KS.

*Eligible students need not have attained grades that placed them in the top quartile of their graduating class.  Non-traditional students are eligible.

*Student must submit an official copy of his/her transcript with the application.

*Applications are due by March 31 and should be returned to:

Remembering Mary Olson and Viola Olson Gustafson:

Mary Olson and Viola Olson Gustafson were born and died in Cloud County, Kansas.  In between, during a time when nursing degrees were not yet heard of, these strong Kansas women trained in the art of nursing and spent their lives caring for others.


David A. and M. Marguerite Parker Scholarship

For students of Tescott High School who are academically solid and have community involvement, but most likely will not be recognized as Salutatorian or Valedictorian of their graduating class. Scholarships are for the purpose of post-secondary accredited education.



*Students must be seniors graduating from Tescott High School, located in the community of Tescott in Ottawa County, KS.

*Recipients are to be selected from among the top five students in the class. J Priority shall be given to students ranked third (3rd) through fifth (5th).

*Recipients must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

*Recipients must display a strong sense of community involvement.

*Applicants must provide evidence of financial need, which is to be a determining factor in cases of equal merit.

*Completed applications should be turned in to the high school counselor by March 31.


About David and Marguerite Parker:

David and Marguerite Parker are originally from Nebraska, but moved to Tescott in 1953.  They raised four children who attended Tescott high School.  All of them attended college after high school.  David worked for Northern natural Gas company for 37 years prior to retiring, and now spends his time gardening.  Marguerite ran a ceramics shop and taught others the art of ceramics
