Kansas high school students who are considering a teaching career have an excellent opportunity to learn more about what teachers do and whether or not they have the potential for meeting this professional challenge.  This opportunity comes in the form of the Kansas Future Teacher Academy sponsored by Emporia State University and Dodge City Community College.

Now in its seventeenth year of existence, the academy will be held at two locations and dates:

*Emporia State University-June 18-22, 2006

*Dodge City Community College-Dates to be determined

Current sophomores and juniors can apply for the Emporia site.  Current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors can apply to the Dodge City site.   Applicants should demonstrate academic scholarship, leadership skills, and interest in professional education.  They will attend a variety of workshops on leadership and self-improvement and participate in activities to help them better understand what teachers do.

Deadline for applications is March 17, 2006.
