About a year ago, USD 240 wrote an application to receive funding through the EPA to purchase 2 electric buses, one for Tescott and one for Bennington. There were a lot of discussions with the Board of Education regarding this purchase. The cost of the bus was almost completely covered by the EPA rebate and the cost of the charger was covered by an Evergy rebate. This was a good financial decision for the district as we are also anticipating considerable savings in fuel vs energy costs. One bus is here and is ready to roll! The bus will be parked in front of the Bennington building this evening during the open house/move in night. We will be offering rides around town if you'd like to check it out.
