We want to welcome Amy Vernon to USD 240 as next year's Bennington Jr./Sr. High school principal! She will begin her new administrative position on July 1, 2026.
Vernon brings a diverse background in education and leadership as she steps into the principal role. She earned her undergraduate degree through Oklahoma State University and the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and completed her master’s degree at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi.
Vernon’s leadership experience is rooted in her decade-long tenure as director of a grant-funded after-school program in York, Nebraska, where she developed programming, led staff, and built strong community partnerships. She currently serves as a 6th-grade English Language Arts and social studies teacher at Ell-Saline Elementary, where she is known for fostering student growth and engagement.
She and her husband, an area manager for Central Valley Ag, have two children. Their son, Cole (14), is active in the sports of rodeo and basketball and has also participated in football and track. Their daughter, Annsley (21), will graduate from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and begin chiropractic school in Kansas City this May.
